Header - Client: Exam Days

.

In this section, a client-side script is provided to offer information about the current day and the next school or exam day. This JavaScript program relies on input data concerning school holidays, days off, and exam days.

  1. Start of the School Year Date (updateStartOfYearDate): This variable can be modified to reflect the actual start date of the school year. For example, if the school year starts on September 1st, 2024, the client can change the date like this:
    var updateStartOfYearDate = new Date("2024-09-01");

  2. List of Days Off (updateListOfDaysOff): This list contains pairs of dates and descriptions of days off. The client can add, remove, or modify days off and their descriptions. Each date should be in the format "YYYY-MM-DD", and the description can be any string. For example, to add another day off on December 1st, 2024, with the description "National Holiday", the client can do this:
    var updateListOfDaysOff = [
        new Date("2024-05-12"), "Parent-Teacher Conferences",
        new Date("2024-10-04"), "Fall Break",
        new Date("2024-12-01"), "National Holiday"
    ];

  3. List of Exams (updateListOfExams): This list contains pairs of dates and descriptions of exams. Similar to the list of days off, the client can add, remove, or modify exams and their descriptions. For example, to add another exam on June 15th, 2024, with the description "Mathematics Exam", the client can do this:
    var updateListOfExams = [
        new Date("2024-05-13"), "Final Exam for Subject X",
        new Date("2024-10-05"), "Final Exam for Subject Y",
        new Date("2024-06-15"), "Mathematics Exam"
    ];

PSAT

PSAT/NMSQT

Welcome back Hidden Valley High School! We will be offering the PSAT/NMSQT on Saturday, October 26th, 2024 at 7:45 am. This is a great opportunity for our 10th and 11th grade students to practice their testing skills for the SAT Test. All 11th graders who take the PSAT/NMSQT will have the opportunity to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship. Anyone interested in taking the PSAT/NMSQT can pay $40.00 online on SchoolCashOnline or through cash or check (made payable to HVHS).

The testing will be digital this year and students will be REQUIRED to bring their laptops and chargers. When a student registers they will be given a tip sheet with very important information about test day. All students testing will be required to have the Bluebook APP downloaded on their computer PRIOR to test day. This can be found in the students’ software center on their laptops. It is very important that students download this program and take a practice test BEFORE testing so we can work out any bugs that may occur.

We will be holding a digital readiness session at HVHS on Thursday, October 17th. We will call all students who have registered to the auditorium at 9am or 2pm.

Please see Mrs. Williams in counseling to register. Our registration deadline is October 1, 2024

Exams / Final Assessments

Final Assessment Procedures and Schedules

Teachers will distribute final assessment exemptions letters (TBD) to all students who meet the academic and attendance requirements to be exempt from their final assessments.  (RCPS Policy 6.16)

The exemption letters must be returned to the teacher on or before (TBD), in order for a student to NOT be responsible for the final assessment.

Even if exempt, students may still take the final assessments.  The final assessment score could increase or decrease a student’s numerical grade.

The following attendance procedures will be in effect during the final assessment window.

Senior final assessment days are regular bell schedule days. Lunch is served.
Standard Exams begin the early release schedule and final assessments for all grade levels.  Lunch is not served.
Once in the building on the final assessment dates, students MAY NOT leave for a block and then return for an assessment, even if the student is exempt from a final assessment or has a study hall the block before a scheduled assessment.
Students who are exempt from final assessments will receive exemption letters from the teacher(s).  These letters must be returned to the teacher with a parent/guardian’s signature.
Additionally, students taking PE and/or study hall are not required to be at HVHS for the scheduled time of that assessment.
**Please note:  No calls will be made into classrooms to release students during final assessments
